Last year the Batley Bulldogs, Batley Bulldogs Community Team and the Jo Cox Foundation teamed up to do a Community Christmas Dinner for those that may be lonely or isolated at Christmas. Due to the pandemic that couldn’t happen again this year but seeing the devastating effects on families and individuals, it has been a pleasure to team up with the Jo Cox Foundation once again, this time to provide a little Christmas spirit in the shape of hampers as part of the Jo Cox Foundations winter campaign The Great Winter Get Together. 55 hampers have been distributed to those in need across Batley and the team with their volunteers worked with local schools and organisations to make sure they went to the families most in need, one said “the hampers you’ve so kindly donated for our most vulnerable families are amazing! Thank you!” Thank you to our sponsor Fox’s biscuits for their donation towards the hampers.
The Community Team and the Bulldogs have been overwhelmed by the response to a plea for donations for their Christmas campaign the Big Bulldogs Toy Drive, more than 250 donations have been received from residents of North Kirklees. The toys have been distributed through local schools and voluntary organisations to children of families hardest hit by the financial effects of the pandemic. A huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped by donating! We couldn’t have done it without YOU!
