The Heavy Woollen rivals go Head to Head at The Halton Stadium, Widnes, in a battle for the final place in Division 1, Live on our YouTube Channel this evening, 7pm

Don’t forget your Half-Time Draw tickets for the chance to win £100, this week sponsored by Stuart & Gwenneth Merton.

Before kick-off, technology permitting, we hope to hold a 1 Minute Silence in memory of Gwen Whiteley who raised over £22000 for club funds with her Matchday Raffle.

We spoke to Chairman Kevin Nicholas ahead of the game.

Without doubt this is the strangest Good Friday of my life. I always go to St. Mary’s Church in Batley at 3pm on Good Friday but for the first time in my life it won’t be happening. Then we always have a game tonight usually against Dewsbury but it isn’t happening and this year it should have been at our place. We have the best we can do on our YouTube site the 2005 playoff final at Widnes with the loser getting to play 2006 in National League 2 for us meaning relegation so a very tense affair.

We have our 3rd half-time draw tonight where tickets must be bought by 6pm with a 7pm kick off. So it’s today not Sunday so PLEASE don’t forget to get your ticket as we need to keep the momentum going if we are to come out of this crisis strong. Sales seem a bit quiet so far so please help and buy HERE for only £2 a ticket. The prize of £100 is this week sponsored by Stuart & Gwenneth Merton so a big thank you to them for their support. Also had a call this week from Terry Swift to say that he wishes to sponsor a draw prize so we are now sponsored to the 17th May Draw. Thank you.

So this week on Wednesday we decided we needed to get rid of our bottles and cans bar stock as we don’t know when we will play again. Neil Fahey at Yorkshire Beers had already kindly agreed to take our draft back. We had some 30 packs to sell and within an hour of us promoting the sale 26 had gone and since then another 2 have been sold so we now have TWO left- 24 Carlsberg 500ml bottles for £20. We want to sell them this weekend so just go on our ticketing site HERE to pay for them then email me at with a delivery address and mobile number and you will have them within 2 hours. All other beer sold has already been delivered.

The game tonight happened because we finished 8th out of 10 Clubs in National League  One where Featherstone and Barrow who finished 9th and 10th were relegated automatically. York were automatically promoted from National League Two. Dewsbury finished 2nd and so us and teams finishing 2nd to 6th took part in playoffs. We played and beat Dewsbury at home to go straight to the final then Dewsbury had a second chance and beat Workington to join us there. The winner of this Final playoff played in NL1 and the loser was in NL2 in 2006. So a lot to play for.
Enjoy the game but please buy a draw ticket first, Our draw next week will revert to Sunday.
Cheers, Kevin
