We’re delighted to be once again joining forces with #MoreInCommon for our Betfred Championship fixture against Sheffield Eagles this Sunay, 17th June. To celebrate the life and work of our former MP, and friend of the club, Jo Cox, we’ll be having a feast of family fun and activities at The Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.
As part of this year’s Great Get Together, gates and bars will be open at 1230. From 1pm we’ll see the British Asian Rugby Association take on the British Bulldogs. More rugby action follows with Ladies RL, we have live music from local band Gods of Fortune, and cheerleaders from across the area come together in the Dance For Jo.
With kids rides, and more activities for the youngsters in the Fox’s Fanzone, plus stalls and attractions, it’s a packed day for all ages, and as last year admission for all is FREE OF CHARGE!!!
The Bulldogs and Eagles clash as the main event of the day with a 3pm Kick-off, and the carnival atmosphere continues post-match and into the evening.
The Great Get Together is an initiative created by Jo’s family and friends and see a series of events held nationwide.
Jo’s sister Kim Leadbeater told us
“It is an honour to be working in partnership with the Batley Bulldogs to organise ‘The Great Rugby League Get Together’ including the Jo Cox Memorial game, on 17th June, as part of this year’s national Great Get Together campaign. Jo loved the club and I would like to thank them for their support during the last two years. My background is in sport and physical activity, and I feel passionately about the role it has in not only our health and wellbeing but also in bringing communities and people together.
“The Bulldogs is a welcoming family club with great fans and a big heart, so please do join us on Sunday 17th June for this FREE day of Rugby League, friendship and fun.”
Last year’s event was a huge success with a bumper crowd enjoying a fabulous day and a thrilling encounter on the field.
“Jo Cox was a great friend and supporter of the club, becoming more and more involved in our off field activities before her untimely passing. It’s a privilege to have her family and friends join us at any time, and for the club to be part of the Great Get Together celebrations is fantastic.” said Bulldogs Director John Miller
“We have the best supporters in Rugby League and we know they’ll be right behind the day once again. This special occasion will attract a wider audience giving us the perfect opportunity to showcase our facilities, Rugby League in Batley, and the brilliant family atmosphere here at The Bulldogs, of which we’re very proud, whilst at the same time celebrating Jo’s achievements and legacy.”
