The Bulldogs can now confirm that popular ex-player Dane Manning is now officially a Bulldog again in 2017. Dane was previously with Halifax who released him from his contract last week and Bulldogs were quick to react and obtain his signature. However there has been some hurdles to overcome to secure his release but now eventually the deal is finalised.
Paul Harrison confirmed “It is only today 18th November that we have eventually finalised the signing of Dane although he has been training with us. He has agreed a 2 year contract and we are very pleased to have him back at the Club. We believe he is one of the best back rowers in the Championship so although we used up our budget we decided to take a bit of a leap and exceed our spending plans as we believed this was an opportunity not to be missed if we are to show our ambition to finish high in the Championship again.
Clearly it is also a loss to Halifax, one of our close rivals, which adds to the importance of the signing. When Dane was at the Club before he was very popular and so we think everybody will be delighted to have him back and this will add to our optimism for the coming season under new coach Matt Diskin as well as adding a bit of spice to our early home game against Halifax in February.
